We would LOVE to hear from you!

The ship actually has a US based phone number. The number is in Florida so it costs you the same as a long-distance phone call to Florida. If you have free long-distance, then it's free! And if you add this number to your "buddy" list for your cell phone, then it's also free! :) It looks kind of long but if you punch in all these numbers, I promise it works. :)

1 (954) 538-6110 4311.

We're can't talk on the phone after 10 pm our time (we're 6 hours ahead of the east coast) because voices DO carry really easily through the walls. But we can call from phones in public areas around the ship.

SNAIL MAIL:

Since we've arrived we've figured out the system a little bit better for snail mail. It IS kind of complicated, just because of the nature of mailing things over oceans! I will try to explain more clearly.

There are two ways for us to receive mail. The first is via container. The International Operations Center in TX sends one container every month to the ship with medical supplies. Crew are welcome to use any free space on the container for free. On average it will take 12-15 weeks for us to receive any package put on a container.

The second way is via DHL. On average it takes between 9-12 days for crew mail to reach the ship once it leaves Texas. Letters are free, but for packages or other items, the cost is $0.55 per ounce which is $8.80 per pound. Generally, we would prefer to receive mail vi DHL because of the speed but we obviously want to be careful with the weight allowance as that $8.80 adds up rather quickly!

So all that to say, if you want to mail us a package, we would be absolutely thrilled (mail has taken on a whole new face here!) and we probably want to get it sooner rather than later. But if the package is going to be heavy, please put it on the container. Please do label "Crew Mail" or "Container" on anything you send to avoid confusion at the IOC--they process A LOT of mail every day; not to mention all of the personal ordering that gets done via amazon, etc.

Now it gets a little bit more confusing!
