About

Since getting married in July 2011, we have felt God’s call to be part of some specific service as a couple. We prayed for His leading and in the meantime, kept our eyes open and occasionally did some research into various opportunities (both at home in the States and overseas). We were very interested in missions but at the same time, it seemed like a huge change.

During Christmas 2012, we were in Guinea visiting Katie’s family and there happened to be a Mercy Ships team at Hope Medical Center doing some teaching and helping out with various projects. Jordan learned that they were currently in need of a carpenter. We had never stopped to think that a hospital ship might need more than just doctors and nurses. I remember us talking about it that night and we basically decided it would be crazy to live on a “boat”. We forgot about it for the rest of the trip... until we got to the capital and decided to take a tour of the ship.

You know how people talk about love at first sight? It was like that. We stepped on that ship having no idea that when we got back in our car an hour and a half later, it would be all that we thought about.

Long story short: we applied and were accepted in May 2012. We are committed to serving with Mercy Ships until November 2015. The entire experience has been so incredible--our God has come through with confirmation after confirmation that we are doing the right thing. Our amazement for His ways has grown and we have just been blown away by His perfect provision! We feel so blessed to be sent out by our church and it’s been so good for us to see the body of Christ so united in their overwhelming support of us. We’ve learned a lot about each other and are just enjoying being on this very new adventure together!

Jordan is a carpenter on board and Katie is a hospitality hostess.
